What is Whole-Person Care at The Center • A Place of HOPE?
Whole-person care was created by the founder of The Center • A Place of HOPE, Dr. Gregory Jantz, PhD, in the early 1980’s. Dr. Jantz noticed that other programs were treating just the symptoms of an individual’s depression. This type of narrowly focused treatment was not providing the type of long-lasting care – complete recovery and freedom from one’s disorder – needed to define true success.
Treatment for the entire you — your mind, body and spirit
Whole-person care is a proven approach that produces verified and long-lasting results. It treats you and an entire person and every aspect of your life. That includes the physical components of your life – your fitness, nutrition and diet, and sleep (we conduct sleep studies to understand how your sleep, or lack of it, may be affecting your mental well-being).
We also work closely with you on your mental and emotional state. We listen to you as you tell us about your entire life – your childhood, your adolescence and school years, your close and extended family, your relationships. We talk about your fears, any phobias you might have, your pain and disappointment, perhaps from mental, physical or sexual abuse. We listen and will inderstand if you are struggling with alcohol, prescription drugs or other substances.
Finally, we work with you on the spiritual component of your life. We listen to your values, your core principles, your belief system, and your relationship with God.
In this way, you work through all components of your life that has contributed to your current condition. The result is a deeper, longer-lasting and more complete recovery.
