Whole-person care is now regarded as the premier approach to long-lasting recovery from addiction. But it wasn’t always that way.
The whole person care approach to treatment was actually created by Dr. Gregory Jantz, PhD, the founder of The Center • A Place of HOPE, in the early 1980’s.
Dr. Jantz noticed that other programs were treating just the symptoms of an individual’s disorder or addiction. He set out to create an approach to care that looked at all facets of one’s life, from their early childhood until their most recent experiences. In this way, a therapeutic team could better understand all of the contributors to the current struggles one was having.
