A Place of Hope is here to help PTSD sufferers of all ages.

Post traumatic stress disorder, or PTSD can strike people of all ages. You don’t have to have been in a war zone or in an abusive relationship to have been traumatized. Traumatic events come in many shapes and sizes, and often are so seemingly small that the traumatized person would never trace their issues back to that event. A Place of Hope’s Center for Counseling and Health Resources has treated PTSD sufferers of all ages. This includes children and teens as well as adults. If you or a loved one is suffering from symptoms of PTSD, it is absolutely essential that you seek professional help and support.

The first step in seeking help for PTSD is recognizing its symptoms either in you or a loved one. Symptoms may take months or even years after a traumatic event to show up, but when they do they may look something like those included in the list below.

  • Recurring thoughts or nightmares related to the traumatic event
  • Changes in sleeping or eating patterns
  • Feelings of sadness
  • Anxiety
  • Trouble focusing
  • Alcohol or substance abuse issues
  • Intense feelings of hopelessness and shame
  • Suicidal thoughts
  • Avoiding social situations
  • Withdrawing from relationships
  • And more

Recent studies have suggested that those who suffer from PTSD for an extended period of time are at risk of experiencing long-term issues with their physical health as well. These health risks are yet another reason why it is so vital to seek treatment once any or all of these symptoms begin showing themselves in you or someone close to you.

A Place of Hope’s whole-person approach to PTSD treatment has helped patients young and old to find the courage and support they needed to reclaim the lives they once had. You’ll find our residential treatment facility to be a refuge as you work toward your recovery.
