What We Do Not Have
As you can see, THE CENTER provides a wide array of options for those seeking healing, recovery and renewed health. However, there are several things we specifically do not have.
Our Intensive Recovery Programs and Intensive Transitional Care Programs do not include challenge or ropes courses or other potentially high-risk activities for those with eating disorders. The trust and self-confidence often associated with these types of activities, we find, can be achieved through other means.
We do not use large animals, such as horses, as a means of helping in treatment. It is our desire to eliminate unnecessary physical dangers/risks. We believe that therapy including larger animals adds substantial cost to treatment programs and we elect to not have this extra cost for our patients.
We also strive to avoid an artificial, rigid eating environment. Instead, we assist individuals in learning how to respond to real-life, non-institutional food settings. Real-life situations produce authentic responses, which are clinically addressed and therapeutically factored into recovery.
