bulimia-treatmentAbout 90% of those affected by bulimia are women. Bulimia is characterized by episodes of binge-eating followed by inappropriate methods of weight control (purging). Individuals will control weight gain by vomiting, fasting, enemas, excessive use of laxatives and diuretics, or compulsive exercising. This cycle is repeated over and over again. About 10% of individuals suffering from bulimia will die from either starvation, cardiac arrest, other medical complications, or suicide. Many more suffer with the symptoms for years. Go to our Information section to see if you have any other eating disorder symptoms to determine if you need bulimia treatment.
